Fantasy football is a famous online fantasy game in which fans of the National Football League can draft their own virtual teams and play with other contestants. Given that the online fantasy game is made to coincide with the regular game, the scores that are made by the virtual fantasy players are largely influenced by those that are made by the regular players in the NFL. Fantasy football team owners are engaged in the management and the actual playing of the game as part of the online fantasy football game. Owners draft players, set lineups, and they engage in trading with their opponents in an attempt to reach the playoffs and, ultimately, to try and win the league championship.
There are various types of fantasy football leagues that are suited for both the amature and the so called “professionals” of the game. The version that most new contestants play is the standard league where the contestant is involved in setting a lineup each week and playing games against other members of the league. The leagues usually play for 10-12 weeks and then the top teams of the league participate in the playoffs that usually last around 4 weeks until a champion is crowned.
A “keeper” fantasy football league has to be the nadir of the game, as it is meant for the more experienced fantasy players. Here a contestant is expected to play the game for multiple seasons. The players that are drafted at any given time will remain under the custodianship of that particular owner for a number or years, unless they are traded or released. It is considered quite an accomplishment for an owner to have success over multiple seasons.
Other games include the auction fantasy football where the owner of a team is largely involved in trade and purchase of players from other contestants. This goes on for as long as the contestants involved have the money to undertake the trade. Other leagues include the survivors’ leagues, the IDP league and the dynasty league- all of which have their own established rules of the game.
